Honoring the memory

Orange Ribbons for Jaime is an organization I am very passionate about.

Honoring the memory of Jaime Guttenberg, a young competitive dancer, is dear to my heart. Her life was cut short due to gun violence; something I have personally experienced.

I recently attended the 1st Annual Dance Party Gala and met her beautiful family solidifying that my mission for Aspiring Dreamz is more important than ever. One of the reasons I started Aspiring Dreamz is because I see how a program like this helps young children find their dreamz and goals and something to help them discover a passion for their future. Dance gave me a direction in life. It took me from someone who was lost trying to find their way to someone with a new passion and direction.

“On February 14th, 2018 Jaime Guttenberg, along with 16 other victims, was tragically murdered by a troubled former student at her high school in Parkland, FL. She was only 14 years old. Jaime was a competitive dancer and our family’s connection to the dance community is ongoing. Following the tragedy, Orange Ribbons for Jaime (ORFJ), a 501(c)(3) was formed to honor Jaime supporting causes important to her in life. These causes have included various dance programs, as well as programs for children of all abilities. Orange Ribbons for Jaime has also partnered with other organizations to tackle hunger following various tragedies. The two signature causes of Orange Ribbons for Jaime are the college scholarship for kids of all abilities that awards 14 scholarships yearly. Most recently, Orange Ribbons for Jaime launched PAWS OF LOVE which is providing companion dogs, plus everything needed during the first year, to families affected by gun violence. Following Jaime’s murder, Jaime’s parents recall just how important their dogs were to them, and now Orange Ribbons for Jaime is looking to help other families heal with the help of a loving companion dog.” – Fred Guttenberg
